Got a Crush on You – Synopsis

Song Xing Chen (Gulnezer Bextiyar) is a 29-year-old doctor with a difference: While all of her co-workers are focused on performing well and making money for the hospital, she cares more about her appearance and fashion. Some think she used her good looks to win herself a top position at the hospital. But she drops a bombshell on her colleagues at her promotion dinner – by announcing she wants to quit! Now, instead of following the path her family set out for her, she has decided to go her own way. As she begins her “new” life, she witnesses a fearless man rescue a helpless dog from a window ledge. This man turns out to be a lifetime singleton and single-minded rescue team leader named Su Qing Che (Xu Kai Cheng). Later, their paths cross again – as they meet (and bicker) on a blind date. Is this to be the beginning of a fresh rivalry… or a budding romance?

Got a Crush on You 2023 – Chinese Drama Review

Well…. Where to start. I was excited to start this drama given the seasoned actors. But it wasn’t quite what I was expecting. There’s no real angst in this drama… any angst is short lived or so questionable that I’d spend an episode trying to figure out what is wrong with the leads.

Xu Kai Cheng Gulnezer Bextiyar

For such experienced actors, this drama seemed stilted. I FF’d through moments that really shouldn’t have been cringey but sadly there were a lot of those moments.

The female lead personage is the most obnoxious female lead I have ever seen in a chinese drama, totally unlikable. Like another commenter said here, she gaslights the male leader constantly, never apologizes, ask him to behave in a manner which she herself does not, etc.

For his part, the male leader is so weak willed and pathetic in the relationship that it is almost unbelievable.

I am surprised that the show is based in an actual novel-romance because it is full of nonsensical drama. Miscommunication is a well know drama trope, but a minimum of effort should be used to set it up – stuff that would be solved by a simple phone call is just poor story telling… it is hard to believe that a writer would be this weak.

Why bother with airing this trashy drama with bad plot. Don’t waste your time.

Got a Crush on You” is a rom-com drama, but there was no drama. After I had invested my valuable time in watching 12 episodes, I decided to drop it and not waste any more of my time. I should have dropped it sooner.
